The choir director of the famous Fischer choirs, Gotthilf Fischer, is dead. He died last Friday at the age of 92.

The famous conductor and choir director Gotthilf Fischer ("Heimatliebe") is dead. As the "Bild" newspaper reports, citing his manager, he died on Friday at the age of 92 near Stuttgart with his family. Fischer fell asleep peacefully around noon. "He didn't have a serious illness, it was just old age," said his manager Esther Müller. Fischer had already been buried.

Gotthilf Fischer was best known thanks to his popular fishermen's choirs. He recorded more than 50 albums with his singers and was able to win several gold records. His tours took him to the USA. Fischer also made a career as a TV presenter, leading up to 2008 on the ARD hit show "Straße der Lieder".
