Rubiales faces years of suspension by the administrative court

Luis Rubiales could be banned for up to 15 years by the Sports Administrative Court in Spain on Monday. In addition, four reports of sexual assault have been received by the Spanish public prosecutor’s office against the association boss.
The Spanish football association boss Luis Rubiales is in danger of being banned for a longer period of time by the sports administration court TAD in Spain on Monday. This is reported by several Spanish media unanimously. On Saturday, the world association FIFA temporarily suspended the 46-year-old for 90 days because of his kiss on the lips of world champion Jennifer Hermoso.
The TAD is to meet on Monday and evaluate the Causa Rubiales. At the award ceremony after the Spanish soccer team’s World Cup triumph in Sydney against European champions England Hermoso, he took his head in his hands and kissed her on the mouth. The world champion had repeatedly emphasized afterwards that this procedure had happened without her consent and spoke of a “sexual assault”.
Suspension up to 15 years?
“If the TAD accepts the government’s complaint, we can decide to suspend the President’s functions,” said Spanish Sports Minister Miquel Iceta in an interview with the newspaper “El País” on Saturday. “The only sanctions provided for in the sports law are the imposition of a fine or a ban on playing for a period of between two and 15 years,” said sports lawyer Toni Roca in an interview on Spanish public television on Sunday.
The Spanish public prosecutor’s office has now received four reports of sexual assault against Rubiales. However, none is said to have been reimbursed by a player from the Spanish women’s selection. Rubiales had refused to resign at the extraordinary general assembly of the Spanish association RFEF on Friday. He claimed the kiss was “consensual”. Hermoso, on the other hand, feels like a “victim of an assault” and repeatedly vehemently denied the agreement.
