European 1

Along with 21 other personalities from YouTube and Twitch, content creator Lucas Hauchard, alias Squeezie, gathered nearly 40,000 people at Le Mans for the first edition of the GP Explorer, a Formula 4 car race. A month after the event which had at the same time gathered more than a million “viewers” live on Twitch, a record, he released a documentary to tell the backstage.

Fifty minutes of video to sum up a year of work and a crazy idea: that of transforming 22 Internet personalities into F4 pilots. The documentary on the first edition of the GP Explorer – thought by Youtubeur Squeezie – was released this Sunday to the delight of the 26-year-old’s fans. The video, which has already accumulated more than two million views on its channel, retraces the journey made, from the genesis of the idea to the podium of new pilots, in front of 40,000 people and more than a million connected to the live of the event on Twitch, a record for France and a feat for the platform.

Intense preparation, doubts and three million euros

As the minutes go by, the creator talks about the different stages of setting up the event. And we can say that it was not easy. It was necessary to find: a voluntary circuit to welcome amateurs, candidates among celebrities, sponsors sufficiently numerous and accustomed to YouTube. Squeezie even reveals the cost of such a project: more than three million euros.

Then the organizational aspect slowly gave way to a more personal part of the project: his preparation and that of his comrades, as well as everyone’s doubts. The training sessions are hard, and there is a lot of information to assimilate. The video also obviously recounts the adventures of D-Day, with all the people mobilized to create a historic day for the two video platforms.

For the most attentive, and those who are already anticipating the sequel, Squeezie hinted in his documentary that there might be a second edition of the GP Explorer.
