“Grace and Frankie” celebrates farewell: The last episodes of season seven are now available on Netflix. So the series comes to an end.

“Grace and Frankie” says goodbye. On April 29, the final episodes of the series created by Marta Kauffman (65) and Howard J. Morris will premiere on Netflix. The TV show starring Jane Fonda (84) and Lily Tomlin (82) has been delighting fans since 2015. They play two women who become unexpected best friends after their husbands Robert (Martin Sheen, 81) and Sol (Sam Waterson, 81) admit to being a couple and divorce after decades of secrecy.

In an interview with Good Housekeeping in 2021, series creator Marta Kauffman explained the success of the format: “I hope that the series inspires people to realize that just because one phase of their life ends, it doesn’t mean another doesn’t begin – and it can be better than the previous phases.”

So the series comes to an end

The final seventh season of the series was split into two parts. The first four episodes already aired in August 2021, and Netflix is now releasing the remaining twelve. “It’s about time, it’s appropriate, but it’s really, really heartbreaking. Especially with this family breaking up,” said series creator Kauffman bat “RadioTimes.com” about the farewell.

The Los Angeles Times had Kauffman previously explained that it was “a combination of things” that led to the finale. “I think when we started, we envisioned seven seasons. But really, that’s the kind of decision that comes from Netflix.” As sad as she is that it’s ending, it makes sense. “Deadline” was also what Kaufman said recentlythat she doesn’t think TV shows like this are hot right now: “When we started ‘Grace and Frankie’ we really tried to walk a tightrope between drama and comedy. They don’t want that now.” Apparently, the series creator doesn’t have any problems with that. “Shows have a lifespan,” she says. “We felt like we were telling the stories we wanted to tell.”

This has happened so far in season seven

And there are still a few left. In the first few episodes of season seven, Grace and Frankie got their two ex-husbands, Robert and Sol, as roommates at the beach house. The FBI is also snooping around. Frankie had to find the money she hid after Nick’s (Peter Gallagher) arrest. Grace’s new husband is in prison, which isn’t too bad for her… So are the two women’s adult children, Brianna (June Diane Raphael) and Mallory (Brooklyn Decker), as well as Bud (Baron Vaughn) and Coyote (Ethan Embry). ), are likely to cause a stir again.

“We are both delighted and heartbroken that ‘Grace and Frankie’ will be returning for its seventh and final season,” Fonda and Tomlin said ahead of the season’s launch . “We’re so grateful that our show was able to address issues that really relate to our older generation. And their kids, and amazingly their kids too. We’ll be these two old ladies, Grace and Frankie , as much as many of her fans, but we’ll still be around. We’ve outlasted so many things – just hopefully we don’t outlive the planet.”
