Grammy Awards: the video game rewarded in 2024 surprises

Since last year, THE Grammy Awards reward video game soundtracks. Previously, some music could be named in the category of “visual media soundtracks”, but the video game industry now has its own category. The first prize was won by Stephanie Economou for the music ofAssassin’s Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok.

For the Grammy Awards 2024, five games were nominated, namely Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, God of War Ragnarök, Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical. Suffice to say that the selection is far from representing the industry as a whole and especially what it offers in terms of powerful and varied original soundtracks, but the big winner of Grammy Award for “best soundtrack for a video game or interactive media” is… Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

A very nice title, but which will clearly not have marked the players with its music, unlike God of War Ragnarok, Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy Or Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical. The soundtrack of the latter was co-composed by Austin Wintory, the originator of the music for Journey (appointed to Grammy Awards 2013) And Aliens: Fireteam Elite (appointed to Grammy Awards 2023). At least this time it’s a real complete game that is rewarded and not an expansion.

It is therefore Star Wars Jedi: Survivor which won the award this year, thanks to its soundtrack composed by Stephen Barton and Gordy Haab. The rest of the ceremony rewarded the soundtrack ofOppenheimer (Ludwig Göransson) but especially Miley Cirus for her song flowers and Taylor Swift for her album Midnightsin front of the artist who has obtained this prestigious award the most times.

You can find Star Wars Jedi: Survivor from €44.99 on Amazon, Cdiscount Or there Fnac.
