Gran Turismo 7 welcomes a big Spec II update

Let’s start with the good news for those who have been waiting for a new circuit for months. This update brings an entirely new and original route: Lake Louise. Based in Canada and more precisely in a ski resort, this snow circuit is offered in three versions. The “Long Track” layout includes a little bit of everything with its low and high speeds as well as its long straight, while the more compact “Short Track” focuses on consecutive twisty turns. There is also a “Tri-Oval” track which has only three turns and allows for almost flat riding throughout the course. The three routes are on groomed snow and have lighting for night sessions. Snow tires highly recommended, of course.

Seven in number to mark the occasion, the new cars will be selected from Dodge, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz and even Porsche, the selection ranging from 1968 for the Dodge Charger 426 Hemi to the very recent Tesla Model 3 Performance from 2023.

  • Dodge Charger R/T 426 Hemi (1968)
  • Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II (1991)
  • NISMO 400R (1995)
  • Lexus LFA (2010)
  • Dodge Challenger SRT Demon (2018)
  • Porsche 911 GT3 RS (992) (2022)
  • Tesla Model 3 Performance (2023)

The GT Café receives three new menus in order to continue its car collection by completing missions.

  • Extra Menu No. 31: Road-Going Racers (collector level 30 minimum)
  • Extra Menu No. 32: Lexus (collector level 34 minimum)
  • Extra Menu No. 33: Red Bull X Series (minimum collector level 49)

Do you remember GT Sophy? After a first temporary public test and although it is still evolving, the super artificial intelligence developed jointly with Sony AI joins the functionalities of Gran Turismo 7 although limited to the PlayStation 5 version. This intelligent agent called Gran Turismo Sophy 2.0 can now be played with 340 cars on nine different circuits.

Regular visitors will notice changes in the “World Circuits” pavilion. In Spec II, five “Standard” level races and two “Expert” level races will be added, while the “Arcade Race” will evolve into “Quick Race” and will be easier to use, we are told. A new “Event Directory” menu will allow you to easily find and join races from a list, and a new “Weekly Challenges” feature will reward you for successfully completing all the races within it. Fans of licenses, emblematic GT events, will be entitled to 50 new tests in the new “Master License” category.

The multiplayer mode also gains a new feature in the form of a “Paddock”, a large parking lot in which online players’ cars are gathered. Here, players can text chat and use emoticons to communicate, as well as zoom in on each other’s cars to get a closer look. Speaking of multiplayer, those nostalgic for split screen can now sit with up to four players in front of the same TV thanks to the split screen mode which was until now limited to 2 players. This feature is only available on PS5.

Finally, the update also includes a new introductory cinematic, new features for Scapes mode as well as a new dashboard which summarizes essential information about your progress in the game: number of cars in your garage, progress in world circuits, in permits, in menus, in collector level and everything else.
