If our grandma had time for one thing, it was for a leisurely breakfast. And she didn’t just eat it, she celebrated it. Here are six cute breakfast habits we’re dying to copy.

How do you say? Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Then why not give it a little more attention? Our grandmother had her preferences when it came to the culinary start to the day. In the editorial office, we pulled out our spiritual memory booklet and collected it.

1. What’s new?

A breakfast without a newspaper? Grandma didn’t have it! Because, firstly, she wanted to be able to have a say even when she was old, and secondly, for her, reading was a glimpse into the big, wide world. Whether it’s a daily newspaper, magazine or TV newspaper with a magazine section: Grandma was always entertained! By the way, she also liked to share the newspapers with her neighbor. Sharing is caring!

2. Always stick to your favorite food

Why think about what you want to eat every morning? Grandma kept it simple and often prepared the same thing. But with pleasure! We once collected our grandmothers’ favorite breakfast. We would have bread with quark and strawberry jam on offer, tomato bread with onions, a boiled egg or muesli with fresh fruit soaked the night before. A cup of coffee and the start of the day was perfect for grandma.

3. Honey jar empty? There’s more!

When there was nothing left to scrape out of the honey jar, Omilein poured her coffee in, then put it back into the cup and enjoyed the sweet drink for breakfast. The station wagon sounds unusual, but it’s absolutely sustainable, right? We absolutely have to try it!

4. Who gets tickets?

Not only the view of the big wide world was important for our grandmother when reading the newspaper. Also, what happened right on their doorstep. Wedding, confirmation, obituary, baby news… After all, she had to send cards to households. A nice gesture!

5. Decapitate the egg

Why mess around with the Pelle tweaking? Knife in hand and bang, the head of the egg was off! So Grandma made short work of breakfast. And that shows us once again: It really doesn’t always have to be that complicated!

6. Grandma the Riddle Queen

Another advantage of newspapers or magazines: the crossword puzzle. Because nothing is as good at killing time in the morning as testing general knowledge. When the puzzle was completely filled out, our grandmother proudly presented it to us.
