No, not all grandparents are the same. Do these five guys look familiar to you?

Clearly, for many mothers and fathers, parents are a great support in everyday family life. And no matter whether they sometimes have a few idiosyncrasies – they are simply indispensable. Have you ever noticed that there are all kinds of different types of grandparents? We have summarized a few typical candidates here that you probably also know.

1. The “I’m sure I’m doing something wrong” types

For them, having children was so long ago that they are downright afraid of taking responsibility for a little creature. You could drop the baby, cook the wrong meal, or lose the child in town. And – oh dear – what if the kids don’t like her? The “I’m sure I’m doing something wrong” guys get nervous every time they meet the little ones. The good: It doesn’t last long, after a while the ice is broken and you can be a carefree grandma and grandpa.

2. The Wild Things

No vacation is too far for them with the little ones, no play in the garden is too dirty. The Indian costume is thrown on and off we go through the bushes. The Wild Things grandparents go along with a lot of nonsense and are therefore very popular with the grandchildren. Sure, sometimes they overdo it a little and you have to tame the wild animals a bit, but to be honest: The fact that you hit the grandparents jackpot with them is still a far understatement.

3. The know-it-alls

What is far away for some is still very present for the clever guys. Which stroller is the right one, how much television is okay and how many hours should mom work? In principle, grandma and grandpa always know everything better and don’t keep quiet about it. This can sometimes lead to conflict. But with these grandparents you can be sure: They are always there for the children and grandchildren and always give 110 percent in their role.

4. The freedom lovers

When the children were out of the house, they picked up new hobbies and have really blossomed since then. The freedom-lovers never really had the goal of becoming grandma and grandpa. Sure, now that the offspring are here, they immediately fell in love with their grandchildren. Nevertheless, you sometimes have to ask her to slip into her grandparent role. This often causes displeasure, but don’t worry: When it comes down to it, grandma and grandpa are definitely there.

5. The “I want to see it all” types

Grandma and Grandpa ask almost every day whether they can spend time with their grandchildren, they always offer their help and are not afraid to take on responsibility. Whether at home or on vacation – they would like to be there anytime, anywhere. This can sometimes be too much of a good thing, but children and grandchildren also feel incredibly loved by grandma and grandpa.
