Graz duo – suspected of attempted murder: drunkards in custody

On Thursday afternoon, pre-trial detention was imposed on two juvenile drunkards who are said to have run over a landlady in Linz and who are therefore being investigated for attempted murder. The regional court responsible for criminal matters in Graz saw strong suspicion in both the 16-year-old and the 17-year-old.

The 16-year-old from Graz and her 17-year-old companion are said to have left a bar in Linz on August 9 without paying and got into their car. When the landlady tried to stop them, they are said to have run over the woman and fled. The 41-year-old restaurant owner was run over and critically injured. Evaluations of video recordings and witness statements showed that the 16-year-old was probably behind the wheel. Two weeks in custody The teenagers fled to Croatia after the crime, where they were arrested a few days later. On Wednesday evening they were extradited to Austria and taken to the Graz-Jakomini prison. The boy remained silent during a first questioning by the magistrate about the allegations, the young woman spoke out, but details of the statement were not made public. The two will initially remain in custody for two weeks, after which a new detention hearing must take place.
