Graz in ecstasy – Master UVC: “Now we can lock the club”

The men of UVC Graz conquered the national volleyball league – with a 4-0 win in the final series against Favorit Aich / Dob and the first championship title in club history, the Murstadt team set an example. The celebrations were (naturally) somewhat limited, but the joy was still huge. Also in the board level of Styrian volleyball.

State champion UVC Graz. 4-0 in the men’s final series against top favorites and Krösus Aich / Dob. In the first minutes and hours after the historic success of his volleyball players, club boss Andreas Artl still believed he was in the wrong movie. “Now we’re closing, we’ve achieved everything!” Joked the chairman. “Of course the greatest success of our club so far, we never thought that it would be possible for the men.”

Is it. What the men of coach Robert Koch celebrated in the sports park. At least some of them. Others had everyday life under control again. Coach Koch had to join Hungary’s national team at half past five the day after the triumph. For Julian Zagar, the volleyball Matura at the HIB-Liebenau-Akademie was on the agenda the next morning. Certainly not an easy thing after the championship celebration.

“A sign to all clubs”
For Styrian association boss Uwe Stark, however, it is precisely these young boys from the UVC, who “grew up” in the association, who make the difference. “This title is a sign to all clubs that youth work pays off, that the status of the academy is valued and rewarded! Now the question is whether the team will stick together. “

Changes are coming
From now on, chairman Artl and above all manager Fred Laure will hold talks with players and the coach (still has a contract). Artl: “There will be one or the other change. It will be exciting, now we are no longer hunters but hunted. Our goal is to make something out of this championship title, and to increase awareness. We are tackling the goal of the Champions League in terms of sport! “
