Olivia Newton-John, best known for her role in the musical “Grease”, is dead. The star died at the age of 73.

Actress and singer Olivia Newton-John is dead. The star of the musical ‘Grease’ died on Monday morning at the age of 73, as communicated via the official Facebook account. The post read, among other things: “Dame Olivia Newton-John passed away peacefully this morning at her ranch in Southern California, surrounded by family and friends.”

It goes on to say that the actress “was a symbol of triumph and hope for over 30 years by sharing her life journey with breast cancer.” The statement does not state whether the disease was also the cause of death. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund in the star’s honor. The facility has set itself the task of researching plant-based medicine against cancer.

Two careers in step

Newton-John enjoyed great success both as a singer and as an actress from the 1970s onwards. Her international breakthrough came with the role of Sandy Olsson in the musical “Grease”, in which she mimed a pair of lovers alongside John Travolta (68). Newton-John has won four Grammys in her long career and has been nominated for two Golden Globes and an Oscar.

The star was last seen in 2020 in the strip “The Very Excellent Mr. Dundee” with Paul Hogan (82). Olivia Newton-John is survived by husband John Easterling, daughter Chloe Lattanzi, sister Sarah and brother Toby.
