LONDON (Reuters) – Kate, Princess of Wales, said in a written statement released on Friday that she was making progress in treating her cancer with chemotherapy and announced that she would make her first public appearance on Saturday since her illness was diagnosed.
The wife of William, heir to the English throne, says she was overwhelmed by the thousands of messages received from around the world after the announcement of his illness in March.

“I’m making good progress but as anyone undergoing chemotherapy knows, there are good days and bad days,” says Kate, 42.

Her improved health will allow Kate to make her first public appearance on Saturday since a church service she attended in December with the rest of the royal family for Christmas.

She will take her place in a carriage with her three children, Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte, for the annual parade organized in central London to mark the monarch’s birthday.

She will then stand alongside King Charles, Queen Camilla and other members of the royal family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
