Cyber criminals are currently trying to take over their users’ browsers with a dangerous scam. This was recently discovered by the security experts at Malwarebytes. In this approach, the scammers use Google’s advertising network.
The scam works as follows: the criminals rent advertising space for popular keywords in Google searches. Among others “youtube”, “amazon” and “facebook”. Now, when users search for any of the words, they’ll see a criminals’ page as the first search result, leading users to think it’s the page they’re looking for.
