“Great, it’s very French”: Marcia Cross gives her clear opinion on the demonstrators after her visit to Lille

Oliver Adey 24 March 2023 2 min read

Marcia Cross, the unforgettable Bree from Desperate Housewives, was in Lille this Tuesday, as part of the Series Mania festival. Following the intrusion of protesters against the pension reform during the event, the actress spoke about the chaos that currently reigns in France.

Despite the climate of tension that reigns in France in the face of pension reform, cultural and political events remain, for the most part, maintained. This is why the Series Mania festival, organized in Lille from March 17 to 24, took place as planned. This Tuesday, the event was still marked by an intrusion of demonstrators which shortened the arrival of Marcia Cross, whom the public knows in particular in the guise of Bree Van de Kamp in the series Desperate Housewives. The American actress had come to deliver a masterclass in front of an audience of more than 1,400 people, who did not fail to cheer her on once her speech was over. Expected by fans to sign autographs on the red carpet, Marcia Cross was finally exfiltrated, while the CRS were trying to restore order in the crowd.

An unexpected on which the actress confided in the pages of La Voix du Nord. “I didn’t really notice”admits Marcia Cross before adding: “We were trying to advance through the journalists, Laurence Herszberg (the general director of the festival) said that there were demonstrators behind. I said ‘Great, that’s very French!’. Maybe a little too French, I was told… But I didn’t think much else“.

Marcia Cross on protests: ‘I prefer your trash cans to our mass killings’

The actress explains that she was informed of the political and social context when she arrived in Paris, before joining Lille. “I understand“, she launches before adding: “In any case, I prefer your trash cans to our mass killingsAs a reminder, gun violence is raging in the United States, where around 130 people are killed by gunfire every day.
