Great sadness – Former local councilor Reinhold Gasper dies

The amateur historian and monument conservationist died on Friday, November 10th at the age of 86.

Reinhold Gasper, born in Klein St. Paul in 1938, was the son of a farmer’s wife. “Simonbauer”. After eight years of elementary school, he completed an apprenticeship as a locksmith in Klagenfurt and later worked at the Wietersdorfer Duritwerke. However, he found his professional fulfillment at the Zimmer machine factory in Klagenfurt as head of the development department. In the course of his professional career, he became a founding member of the Green Party in Carinthia and was a member of the Klagenfurt municipal council from 1985 to 2015, where he submitted more than 1,700 applications, of which more than a third have been realized. Humor was his great strength; he loved telling jokes. In addition, writing letters to the editor and articles on the topic of “Carinthian Defensive Struggle” kept us mentally fit until the end. His commitmentHe has written numerous books about Klagenfurt and has always campaigned for the expansion of the cycle path network. At his instigation, 22 natural monuments were placed under protection. The guesthouse also invented a wooden connection system.
