Great success: – The Graz play “Garland” receives the Nestroy Theater Prize

Great success for the Grazer Schauspielhaus at the presentation of the Nestroy Prizes Sunday evening in Vienna: The play “Garland” won the category “Best State Performance”.

The 23rd presentation of the Nestroy prizes took place in the Art for Art decoration workshops in Vienna’s Arsenal on Sunday evening – Nadja Bernhard and Peter Fässlacher moderated the theater gala, at which there were 39 nominees and two prizewinners in 13 categories. Styrian production among winnersAmong the outstanding stage productions and artists of the past theater season is also Styria. According to the jury, the “Best State Performance” came from Graz, and the award was given to “Garland” by Svenja Viola Bungarten: a black doomsday comedy that was staged with a lot of wit and speed by Anita Vulesica. “I know what everyone is thinking: We need something to drink”, the director began her emotional acceptance speech with her team. In view of the climate crisis, it is more important than ever to break the rules – also in the theater: “This is our incentive to keep going!” Unfortunately, the man from Stuttgart, who studied acting at the University of Art in Graz, went away empty-handed. Another play by Vulesica will start soonAnita Vulesica will also be directing “The Bald Singer” at the Schauspielhaus in Graz from next Friday. Frieder Langenberger is also back on stage there.
