WHAT DOES IT TALK ABOUT ?

Eleanor, a young investigator with a dark past, is called to the scene of a terrible mass crime. Eleanor, for her part, finds herself more and more involved in the case and realizes that her own demons can help her understand the mind of this unique killer…

AN EXPLOSIVE AND INTENSE THRILLER

In 2014, the general cinema fan public got to know Damián Szifron thanks to the film The New Savages. Selected for the Palme d’Or at the 67th Cannes Film Festival, and nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Film, this dark and biting sketch film has indeed allowed the Argentinian-Spanish filmmaker to carve out a special place in the hearts of spectators and the profession.

As proof, the film achieved a rating of 3.7 out of 5 from the press, and 3.8 out of 5 from spectators. Within the AlloCiné reviews, some have highlighted “A thriller that renews the genre and manages to find the right balance between great spectacle and the grammar of independent cinema“, “A very great detective film”, or even “a film [qui] enters the league of great thrillers like “Seven”, “The Silence of the Lambs” and other great Thrillers of the genre“.

A little less than 10 years later, it was in English that Damián Szifron made his return to the big screen, in Misanthrope. Released last April, this thriller offers us an intense and bitter dive into a thrilling investigation. All through the character of Eleanor, a patroller played brilliantly by the impressive Shailene Woodley.

The actress known for her roles in The Fault in Our Stars and the series Big Little Lies shares the bill with Ben Mendelsohn, star of Animal Kingdom, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Captain Marvel. The two actors embody a tandem of passionate and exciting investigators, unraveling each other’s mysteries at the same time as they track down a serial killer. A feature film that will keep you in suspense until the last minute, and whose first scene may well have you hanging on to your seat. To be seen again without further delay on myCANAL.
