Greece buys six additional Rafales


Athens has now ordered 24 French fighter jets as part of its defense effort.

Six months after announcing its intention to order six additional Rafales, Greece finalized a new order on Thursday during a ceremony held in Athens. The contract for six new combat aircraft was signed by Vice-Admiral Aristidis Alexopoulos, Director General of Armaments and Investments of the Greek Ministry of Defence, and Éric Trappier, CEO of Dassault Aviation (1), the manufacturer of the Rafale, in the presence of Florence Parly, Minister for the Armed Forces, and her Greek counterpart, Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos. The latter then went on board the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, which stops in the port of Piraeus on the occasion of the Greek national holiday, on March 25. Rafales must take off from the French boat, off Crete, to take part in the military parade in Athens.
