Amazon Prime Video is making season 1 of “Greek Salad” available to its users. This fiction in eight episodes is the continuation of the trilogy of films of “The Spanish Inn”. Besides, should you have watched the saga before seeing the series?
Since Friday April 14, 2023, users of the Amazon Prime Video platform can discover season 1 of Salade Grecque, the sequel to the film trilogy The Spanish Inn, Russian Dolls and Chinese Puzzle by Cédric Klapisch.
A new chapter…
Divided into eight episodes, this vibrant fiction is an ode to contemporary youth. It is worn by Aliocha Schneider and Megan Northam, who play the main roles in this project (and who answered our questions in an interview). The actors indeed embody Tom and Mia, the children of Xavier (Romain Duris) and Wendy (Kelly Reilly), the heroes of the saga on the big screen.
For the pleasure of the fans, the latter (as well as Cécile de France or even Kevin Bishop) bring their old characters back to life… Besides, should you have seen Klapisch’s feature films before embarking on viewing Salade Grecque? ?
The answer is no ! The protagonists highlighted here are Tom, Mia and all their friends. Romain Duris, Kelly Reilly and the other “veterans” of the three films only appear a little during the whole of this season… because it is definitely a new chapter that opens!
From “The Spanish Inn” to “Greek Salad”
From the first episode, the situation is clarified when Tom indicates to the spectators where are the relations within his family… Thus, he recapitulates: he and Mia were born in Paris and grew up with their parents, Wendy and Xavier. Unfortunately, they separated and Wendy left to live in New York, where Xavier also went to stay with his children.
As a teenager, Tom went back to Paris with his father, while Mia stayed in the USA. After the baccalaureate, Tom returned to New York… while Mia returned to Paris with Xavier after having argued with Wendy! Today, in the United States, Tom is 26 years old and wants to launch his company. Mia, 22, is in Greece, supposedly to study Erasmus… Are you still following?
At the beginning of Salade Grecque, Tom and Mia therefore inherit a building in Athens on the death of their grandfather. Tom joins his sister in Greece to manage the family inheritance but he will realize in passing that Mia has in fact become a rebel activist who lies to everyone close to her!
