The keyword is “Lithium”. There have been accumulators since the second half of the 19th century, i.e. devices that are capable of producing and storing electricity themselves. The first rechargeable battery was made by a certain Johann Wilhelm Ritter at the beginning of the 19th century, who worked full-time as a philosopher. With the lead-acid battery, which Wilhelm Josef Sinsteden from the Lower Rhine region conceived and built in 1854, the accumulators could also be used in everyday life. But a battery took up too much space. It took almost 116 years until the revolutionary new discovery, the lithium battery, came along. 50 years later, the batteries were ready for the market.
