Greens decide differently
Train for Hofreiter also departed from the railway

The traffic light parties send their representatives to the supervisory board of the state-owned Deutsche Bahn. A group within the Greens had campaigned for traffic expert Hofreiter. But the faction stopped the plan. For the 52-year-old, the next defeat by his party.

Greens traffic expert Stefan Gelbhaar is to move into the supervisory board of Deutsche Bahn. That was decided by the parliamentary group in Berlin. The two traffic light parties SPD and FDP had previously named their own candidates. Like Gelbhaar, the SPD politician Dorothee Martin and the FDP MP Bernd Reuther are transport policy spokespersons for their parliamentary groups. Anton Hofreiter was also under discussion for the post with the Greens.

According to the news portal “The Pioneer”, the mobility working group of the Greens parliamentary group had agreed on the former group leader and put it up for discussion in the group. Hofreiter headed the transport committee from 2011 to 2013. He is currently Chairman of the European Committee of the Bundestag.

Hofreiter unexpectedly had to hold back when filling the cabinet posts when the traffic light government was formed. He had recently repeatedly criticized Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s course in the Ukraine war and accused him of acting too hesitantly. Hofreiter had demanded that Ukraine also be supplied with heavy weapons.
