Grégory case: the Villemin family in mourning after the death of one of the protagonists of the case

The Villemain family mourns the loss of one of their own again. According to information from France Bleu Sud Lorraine, Albert Villemin, father of Jean-Marie Villemin and grandfather of little Grégory, died on February 18, 2023 at the age of 92. The information was confirmed by Thierry Moser, the lawyer for Christine and Jean-Marie Villemin, who specified that the husband of Monique Villemin, herself deceased in 2020, died at the Baccarat nursing home, in Meurthe-et-Moselle. He had been living there for a few years due to his advanced age.

Monday, February 27, the lawyer for the grandparents of little Grégory, Me Olivier Baratelli, reacted to the announcement of this death: “Albert Villemin takes many family secrets to his grave… It is before the eternal that he will now lay them down”, did he declare. Since the murder of their grandson, found hand and foot bound in Vologne on October 16, 1984, Albert Villemin and his wife Monique were among the protagonists of the case. Their son Jean-Marie, Grégory’s father, had notably suspected his mother of having information about the boy’s death, but neither the latter nor Albert Villemin ever spoke.

Albert and Monique Villemin last heard from in 2017

The last hearing of Albert Villemin and his wife Monique dates back to June 2017. At the time, the couple had been heard at their home in Granges-Aumontzey (Vosges) following the arrest of Marcel and Jacqueline Jacob, grand- uncle and great-aunt of Grégory, as well as Ginette Villemin, wife of Michel Villemin at the material time. Neither these arrests, nor the interrogations of Albert and Monique Villemin had then allowed the investigation to move forward. Forty years later, we still do not know who is really responsible for the death of little Grégory.
