This Saturday April 30, 2022 marks the fifteenth anniversary of the death of Grégory Lemarchal. On this occasion, Camille Lou evoked with emotion in the columns of Parisian what the young singer had represented when she was younger.
It was already fifteen years ago. On April 30, 2007, Grégory Lemarchal died at the age of 23 following complications from his cystic fibrosis. If his disappearance had upset the greatest number, a TF1 star had “feeling like losing a friend” upon learning of his death on the radio. Before becoming a singer herself, Camille Lou was indeed a big fan of the one who is nicknamed the little prince with the voice of an angel. In an interview given to Parisianshe explained:I’ve only been a fan once in my life, and that was Grégory. After seeing him on TV taking over SOS from an Earthman in distress, I absolutely wanted him to win the show. I even wrote him a letter on Diddl paper! I knew all his songs by heart, I could still sing some today and, besides, it is still in my playlist.“
In 2005, Camille Lou had the chance to meet her idol. She recalled: “My cousin had taken me to see him at a concert on the Star Academy tour in Lille. I remember crying when he came on stage. I didn’t know how to put the words at the time, but I think they were tears of admiration at all he was able to accomplish despite what he was going through.“Thanks to a relationship with her cousin, the singer and actress was able to take a photo with Grégory Lemarchal.”I was very young and very impressed. He was tired but very smiling“, she confided. Two years later, the young woman was then upset when she learned on the radio of the death of the young singer. “I cried a lot when he died because I felt like I was losing a friend, even though I didn’t know him.“, she confided.
Camille Lou: “He marked and influenced me”
Fan of the singer, the pretty brunette revealed “I think a lot of French people are attached to him for his authenticity.” To conclude this interview, Camille Lou added: “Everyone I met in my life as an artist told me that it was indeed a real sun. In fact, he marked and influenced me more than I imagined.“
