The "Anti-Greta"

"Hello dissenters," suffers Naomi. Sip her YouTube video – and then she talks about climate change. Like Greta, she is convinced and determined. With the small difference: it declares man-made climate change to be a humbug. It is all "climate hysteria". "The climate itself does not need protection," says Naomi.

With its unpopular political opinion, it has become an international media phenomenon. It is called "anti-greta". But Naomi is not just railing against the climate movement, she's also not bad at migration policy. The 19-year-old confesses her sympathy for the AfD. But it gets worse. According to ZDF, Naomi is said to be working with the American "Heartland Institute". It is only mentioned in passing that this is financed by the tobacco and oil industry and supports Donald Trump in his climate policy.

The bottom line is Naomi wants to spread her skepticism about climate change. It is doubtful whether she will have a chance against the masses who are backing Greta.

"Fridays for Future" movements in times of the Corona

Usually the "Fridays for Future" movements take place with thousands of people. But the corona virus is now thwarting the climate demonstrations. To slow down the spread of the virus, public gatherings are discouraged. Greta also sees this and writes on Twitter: "So I personally recommend that we do what the experts say. Especially in high-risk areas."

Digital Mission

So put the fight against climate change on hold? The young climate activist does not see that. Greta has a much better plan: the demonstrations should continue to take place – just digital. The 17-year-old suggests joining the hashtag "DigitalStrike" and uploading the corresponding strike photos.

So keep your numbers low but your mood high. And let's do it a week after another.

The 17-year-old writes on Twitter. Instead of on the streets, they now want to demonstrate "all the louder" online. Cheers to the digital age!
