Grey’s Anatomy: a former screenwriter of the series admits to having lied about her health for years

Elisabeth Finch, who worked on “Grey’s Anatomy” as a screenwriter then consulting producer, admitted to having lied to her relatives and colleagues about her medical concerns… With her back to the wall, she tries to justify herself.

A few months ago, in March 2022, a former consulting producer and screenwriter of Grey’s Anatomy decided to leave the teams of the medical series created by Shonda Rhimes. Indeed, Elisabeth Finch has been telling for years to suffer from serious health concerns and to experience immense hardships…

A life of lies

This explained, for example, suffering from a rare form of bone cancer and having had to undergo an abortion because of chemotherapy. She added that she had lost a kidney, as well as part of one of her legs. But also that his older brother had committed suicide… and that’s not all.

Elisabeth Finch had also revealed to have been the victim of moral and sexual harassment from a director, at the time when she was a screenwriter on Vampire Diaries. However, doubt began to take hold of those around him…

From then on, the main interested party had withdrawn from the teams of Grey’s Anatomy to integrate a specialized clinic on her own, just before an investigation was launched by Disney. Alas for her, soon after, the media The Ankler questioned in turn the words of Elisabeth Finch… and she has finally just confessed that she lied!

On the site of our American colleagues, the former collaborator of Ellen Pompeo therefore confesses and explains the reasons which led her to invent all these stories.

Time for explanations

“I know what I did was wrong. I lied and I have no excuse. But there is a context to it all. To best explain what I did, you have to imagine having experienced a trauma and the defense mechanism that a person can implement after this event.

Some people drink to hide or forget their problems. Drug addicts try to alter their reality. Others scarify themselves. Me, I lied. It was my defense mechanism and my way to feel safe, considered and listened to.”

Elisabeth Finch admits to The Ankler that her brother is not dead and that she has never had cancer. She says she started lying after having knee surgery in 2007. At the time, everyone was very caring and kind to her…until she recovered and no one took of his news.

She goes on to say that she has lost everything because of her ramblings: her wife has left her, her family members have turned their backs on her and she no longer has the right to see the children she helped raise.

She is overwhelmed with e-mails and has a series of appointments with her therapist on a daily basis… A destiny worthy of a dramatic fiction plot.
