Grey's Anatomy donates masks to caregivers

Grey's Anatomy and several other series have decided to donate their medical equipment to hospitals. A beautiful gesture of generosity that warms the heart!

Caregivers and hospitals need equipment to fight the coronavirus pandemic. However, masks, gloves and other protections are sorely lacking. To limit the risk of stock-outs, several medical series have decided to donate the equipment that production had available.

For most of these series, filming is suspended. Rather than keeping medical supplies unnecessarily, donating them to people on the front lines was an obvious thing to do. "With Station 19, we were fortunate to have around 300 N95 masks, which we donated to the local fire station. […] For Grey's Anatomy, we have a supply of blouses and gloves which we also donate "explains Krista Vernoff, executive producer of these two series. This decision was taken after learning that firefighters were running out of masks and had to reuse theirs. Their equipment was notably sent to fire stations in Ontario, Canada, and Los Feliz, California.

Another ABC series, Good doctor, donated to the city of Vancouver, Canada, where the filming takes place, hundreds of masks, gowns and waterproof suits to protect caregivers. The filming of the series The Resident was also suspended and Fox decided to donate its reserves to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, USA, where it is being filmed. A gesture of generosity that we can only applaud in these difficult times!
