Dr. Kai Bartley will be included as the first non-binary recurring role on the ABC series “Grey’s Anatomy”.

ER Fightmaster will play the first non-binary character in the series “Grey’s Anatomy”. That reports the US portal “Variety”. Dr. Kai Bartley starred in the third episode of season 18 alongside Meredith and Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) as a member of the research team in Minnesota and is now a permanent part of the cast. ER Fightmaster also identifies itself as non-binary.

Dr. Kai Bartley will be on the ABC series on November 11th (US broadcast). Bartley is “dedicated to the medical profession and extremely talented,” says the role description, which also emphasizes the connection to Amelia. “Kai and Amelia are confident and able to make even the most detailed and mundane science look exciting and cool, they share a love for medicine and the brain.”
