“Grey’s Anatomy” returns with an 18th season. “ABC” announced this on Monday. The spin-off also continues.

“Grey’s Anatomy” is going into an 18th season. The station “ABC” has that on Monday (May 10th) among other things on twitter announced. The hospital series with Ellen Pompeo (51) aka Meredith Gray is currently in its 17th season. “Station 19”, the spin-off of the series, will also be continued and gets a fifth season. Showrunner Krista Vernoff (47) will stay with the two productions.

Who is coming back?

“Protecting each other on the set and at the same time paying tribute to the heroes and first responders on the front line was a challenge and a privilege,” Vernoff said in a statement on the shooting of season 17 under Corona conditions. “We are very grateful for the opportunity to tell more stories,” she concludes. Next to Pompeo are supposed to according to “Variety” also Chandra Wilson (51) and James Pickens Jr. (66) will be there in the 18th season.

The new episodes of the 17th season have been running on ProSieben every Wednesday since April 28. The corona pandemic was integrated into the plot. Meredith Gray is fighting a Covid 19 disease and therefore sees in her dreams people from her past. So there were some reunions with former actors.

But the 17th season also brings farewells. The next dropout from series is Dr. Jackson Avery aka Jesse Williams (39). For the last time he will be seen in the episode “Tradition”, which flickers on the screens in the USA on May 20th.
