Grey’s Anatomy: more bad news for fans of the medical series

The next season of “Grey’s Anatomy” will not begin until 2024 on the air in the United States. As a result, the number of episodes for the twentieth year of the series will be drastically reduced…

While the wait is getting longer and longer while waiting for Grey’s Anatomy to return to our screens, fans of the series today received another piece of bad news regarding the upcoming season 20…

Grey’s Anatomy in reduced version

As previously announced, fiction will only make its comeback on ABC (the channel which broadcasts the medical show in the United States) in 2024. As a reminder, Hollywood was hit by a general strike blocking the resumption of the last summer of many productions, including that of Grey’s Anatomy.

But while the wind of protest is finally calming across the Atlantic, it is clear that the 2023/2024 season is already well underway… Thus, returning almost halfway through the year in the grids of programs, series must revise their number of episodes downwards!

A season 20 divided in half

Therefore, the next salvo of the adventures of the super doctors of Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital should only consist of ten parts! The twentieth season of Grey’s Anatomy will therefore become the shortest in its long history, after season 1 which was divided into nine units.

Grey’s Anatomy should not be the only fiction to see several episodes cut. Still on the ABC channel, Grey’s Anatomy: Station 19, The Rookie: Los Angeles Cop and Good Doctor will also have fewer episodes offered on the air in 2023/2024. Ten episodes should be canned there too, compared to around twenty usually.

Finally, this maneuver should apply to other American channels, such as CBS which notably offers its viewers NCIS. For their part, the agents of the special unit would in fact only be entitled to thirteen episodes for season 21, with filming resuming this month of November 2023!
