"Grey's Anatomy": season 16 will end prematurely because of the health crisis: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

This is information that may sadden many fans. Already affected by the departure of one of the flagship actors of their favorite program, it is a new setback that awaits them. Successful medical series program directors Grey's Anatomy announced that they will end production of season 16 episodes, the first of which will be released on April 9, 2020. Indeed, the covid-19 has been raging for months now and is spreading at a frightening speed around the world. To avoid being contaminated or transmitting the virus, one measure seems to be unanimous: containment. The production team of Shondaland took the hard way (but wise) decision to send their talents home.

A decision made to ensure the safety of actors

"This decision was made to ensure the health and safety of all stakeholders and the team as well as the safety of our loved ones outside of work, and it was taken in accordance with the mayor's suggestion not to meet in groups of more than 50 people ”, explained showrunner Krista Vernoff and executive producers Debbie Allen and James D. Parriott in a letter relayed by the media E! News. It is through this same intermediary that the stars of the series like Ellen Pompeo or Chandra Wilson learned the news. It is not the first production to bear the full brunt of the consequences of the health crisis. Season 2 of Messiah for example which was to be filmed in Rome in the spring of 2020 has been canceled, announced Tomer Sisley, its lead actor, on its account Instagram. Chain ABC will broadcast 21 episodes of the adventures of Gray Sloan Hospital, unlike the usual 24 or 25. This should not, however, hinder the shooting of the 17th season which has already been signed.
