Actress Chyler Leigh (38) returned as Dr. Lexie Gray returned to the TV series “Grey’s Anatomy” (since 2005) in the episode “Breathe”. But she wasn’t the only familiar face to be seen on the April 1st US broadcast. Warning, spoilers!
Fan favorite Mark “McSteamy” Sloan was there again. Actor Eric Dane (48) played the plastic surgeon for more than seven seasons. The surprising return brought Leigh’s Lexie Gray back together with her great love Mark Sloan for the first time since the finale of the eighth season finale of the hit US format. Back then, Lexie and Mark’s love affair ended after she died of injuries sustained in a plane crash …
Meet on the magical beach
Dane and Leigh are the latest former “Grey’s” stars to return to the series in season 17, in which showrunner Krista Vernoff (49) put the corona pandemic at the top of the shooting schedule. The eponymous Dr. Meredith Gray (Ellen Pompeo, 51) is currently fighting Covid and seeing people from her past on the show’s magical beach, Vernoff according to “The Hollywood Reporter” as “a place in between” “where Meredith can simply be and be visited by loved ones dead”.
The current season of the series already had some guest appearances by popular ex-characters ready. For example, Patrick Dempsey (55) returned as Dr. Derek Shepherd alias “McDreamy” and TR Knight (48) as Dr. George O’Malley back. Just recently had “ABC” confirmedSarah Drew, 40, known as Dr. April Kepner, back on the set.
Relay start in Germany
The episodes of the 17th season of “Grey’s Anatomy” can be seen on German TV from April 28th on ProSieben – always on Wednesdays at prime time. A week beforehand, the episodes should go online with the in-house streaming service Joyn.
