Siham El-Maimouni hosted the 60th Grimme Prize ceremony on April 26th.

At the 60th Grimme Prize ceremony, more women than men were honored for the first time. Among others, Siham El-Maimouni was enthusiastic.

On April 26th, the German television landscape gathered for the 60th award ceremony Grimme Prize was held in Marl, North Rhine-Westphalia. The new interim head of the Grimme Institute, Peter Wenzel, whose appointment had only been announced the day before, also came to the gala. A total of 17 productions were awarded the highly prestigious prize during the evening. As presenter, Siham El-Maimouni (39), who also received an award herself, impressed on stage.

On his official Instagram account The Grimme Institute shared numerous impressions of the red carpet and the award ceremony. The leading actresses of the Disney+ series “The Three!!!”, Purnima Grätz, Bella Bading and Lilith Johna (all 17), posed for the cameras on the red carpet. They were honored in the “Children & Youth” competition, as was presenter Siham El-Maimouni, who, together with Birgit Quastenberg, received the prize for “The Show with the Mouse Special – Morocco Mouse”.

Grimme Prize 2024: For the first time, more female prize winners than men

In general, the evening was dominated by women, as the Grimme Institute also wrote in an Instagram story: “For the first time, there are more female prize winners than men.” Among others, Sarah Bosetti (40) was honored for her show “Bosetti Late Night” and Anna Dushime (36) for her conversation in “The Last Drink with Anna Dushime”.

The Grimme Prize Special went to the WDR series “Haus Kummerveldt”, and the documentaries “Three Women – A War” and “Ukraine – War Diary of a Pediatrician” were also honored. Katharina Willinger (37) received the Grimme Prize for special journalistic achievement for her reporting from Turkey and Iran. The film “Nothing That Happens to Us” received two awards – the Grimme Prize in the fiction category and the Student Jury Prize. “Three Women – One War” also received the audience award from the Marler Group.

Further prizes went to “Songs of Gastarbeiter”, “Einzelarbeiter”, “Sam – Ein Sachse” and “Tamara”. The team from “today – in Europe” received the special honor from the German Adult Education Association. Of the 17 award-winning formats, two come from the Disney+ streaming service, the other 15 are public service productions.
