Grindhouse Collection: do you know the Tarantino and Rodriguez double-film coming to Prime Video?

Available January 15 on Prime Video, the Grindhouse Collection brings together the best of two iconic directors: Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez. Spotlight on this little-known double work and its history.

Skillfully playing with genres and references, Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez invite you to join Prime Video on January 15 to experience an unforgettable evening… in two parts!

The ambitious project of two legendary directors

In 2007, Quentin Tarantino (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill I and II) and Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, Une Nuit en enfer, Desperado) decided to join forces around a shared idea. Carried by their common loves, such as the sublimation of violence and hemoglobin, they set up a real cinematographic diptych, to which they give the sweet name of Grindhouse.

The legacy of an American cinematographic tradition…

In the United States, the term Grindhouse refers to a movie theater showing two movies in a row, often B movies, for the price of one. Very popular in the 70s and 80s, this system allowed young moviegoers to experience twice as much horror without spending more money than if they had attended only one screening.

Although this tradition has never been democratized in France, two of the most cult films by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez were nevertheless designed to be viewed one after the other, “Grindhouse style”: Death Boulevard and Planet Terror.

…directly on your screens!

Their simultaneous arrival on Prime Video is ideal to live the experience as desired by the two filmmakers!

The first, Death Boulevard, follows Austin’s top DJ. It is only at nightfall that she can finally find her friends and have fun in the bars where they attract all eyes. One evening, they are spotted by a disturbing stuntman with a scarred face who throws himself on their heels with his threatening racing car. They don’t know it yet, but are about to experience a horrible night…

Change of frame with Planet Terror, signed Robert Rodriguez. In a small town, a couple of doctors notice that their patients are suddenly stricken with gangrene and affected by a vacant and disturbing look… A horrific comedy in which we find Rose McGowan (also starring in Boulevard de la mort), and where Quentin Tarantino signs a cameo. All you have to do is throw yourself into this shocking diptych!

The Grindhouse collection is available from January 15 on Prime Video.
