Grotesque regulation – booster one day early – no proof of vaccination

An apparently larger group of Viennese has a serious problem: although boosted, they are only considered twice immunized in the electronic vaccination card. The reason: You were a few days too early with the 3rd stitch.

Do we want to defeat a virus that no one fully understands to this day? Or do we prefer to harp on regulations that are often changed in this pandemic anyway? This is what a presumably larger group of Viennese is asking (the city cannot say how many there are due to a lack of data). These people have a problem. Although they have been vaccinated three times, they are only considered to have been immunized twice in the electronic record. As with Werner Kortschak. The Simmeringer had himself boosted in November at the EKZ Huma Elven. Unfortunately, not quite four months were over for the second stitch. Three days were missing. “I asked the local vaccination center if I could still get the injection. In consultation with the doctor on duty, it was confirmed,” says Kortschak. It’s a similar story with Lisa K. The 25-year-old also got her booster in November. Just a day (!) too early. The Viennese woman has to travel a lot through Europe for work. She is now having difficulties in several countries. Different entries in the “yellow and green” passport Because her EU certificate does not count as triple immunization. Like Kortschak, Lisa K. is in the bizarre situation: her yellow paper vaccination card (only valid in Austria) lists all three vaccinations. In the digital EU certificate (green passport on the smartphone or printout) it is only protected twice. The health agency AGES refers to the specifications of the national vaccination committee. The city of Vienna cannot do anything either and is pushing the matter to the Ministry of Health: “The federal government has introduced the strict 120-day limit,” says a spokesman for City Councilor for Health Peter Hacker (SPÖ). That’s why only the federal government can change that. Lisa K. has contacted the Ombudsman’s Office. There are “numerous complaints” where people have received their third dose prematurely for medical reasons, according to the letter from the Ombudsman’s Office. Does politics want to let those affected down? Or can she pull herself together to find a solution?
