ECA Group inaugurated its brand new factory in Ostend, Belgium on Friday 10 June. With this milestone, the group successfully completes a new milestone in the flagship underwater minehunting program with the Belgian and Dutch navies, on schedule and on budget.
This state-of-the-art facility will be dedicated to the production and support of ECA Group’s maritime drones. The hundreds of drones ordered by the Belgian and Dutch navies will be assembled and maintained in operational condition in this facility. full of drones will be delivered to the Belgian navy in 2024.
In total, 12 complete robotic systems will be delivered in the coming years for this ambitious and innovative program, which represents more than €500 million in revenue for the group over the total duration of the contract.
At the same time, this site will also serve the other contracts and potential customers of the ECA group. Optimized production of AUVs (Autonomous Underwater Vehicles) and USVs (Unmanned Surface Vehicles), efficient supply chain management and customer demonstrations will be at the heart of its activities. The ECA Group factory in Ostend has direct access to the sea. The drones will be tested there and customers will be able to see them evolve directly under normal conditions of use.
This new facility will further strengthen links with the Belgian and Dutch navies, the Naval Academy (with the NATO center of excellence for underwater mine hunting), industries and academic actors in Belgium. The ECA group will partner with local companies and contribute to the development of local industrial skills and capacities.
