GTA V, despite its 2013 release, remains popular as anticipation builds for GTA VI. Rumors suggest that the game could have featured five significant expansions, including “Agent Trevor,” “Zombies,” “Alien Invasion,” “LibertyV,” and “Prologue.” While these expansions were never officially confirmed by Rockstar, elements from them were later incorporated into GTA Online. With past success in expansions for GTA IV, the possibility for similar content in GTA VI is uncertain, as they may not be financially viable compared to GTA Online revenues.

GTA 5 Could Have Featured 5 Major Expansions
As anticipation grows for Grand Theft Auto VI, the most awaited video game globally, players remain engaged with its predecessor, GTA 5. Despite being released over a decade ago in 2013, GTA 5 remains captivating, offering a wealth of content that allows players to continue enjoying it, even if they feel intimately familiar with the game. However, did you know that GTA 5 could have included even more content? According to insights gathered from data mining, source code, and past interviews with developers and voice actors involved in the game, Grand Theft Auto V might have had as many as 5 different expansions:
- Agent Trevor (also known as Clifford Episode)
- Zombies (also known as Norman Episode)
- Alien Invasion
- LibertyV (also known as Liberty City)
- Prologue (also known as North Yankton)
As highlighted in an extensive Twitter thread by SynthPotato, these 5 expansions were designed to pack in a lot of content. They were expected to include numerous additional missions per DLC, as well as amusingly bizarre events (like zombies and aliens). There was also a possibility of incorporating Liberty City (the map from GTA IV) into the game. While Rockstar has never officially confirmed these expansions, it’s likely they were at least in some stage of development at one point. In fact, many elements intended for these DLCs eventually found their way into events within GTA Online.

Can We Expect Expansions for GTA 6?
Even after over 10 years since the release of GTA 5, many players would have loved for Rockstar to eventually add these expansions to the 2013 game. It’s worth noting that its predecessor, GTA IV, received two well-received expansions. However, it’s also essential to recognize that for franchises like GTA, expansions are not always the most lucrative option. Although they generally receive positive critical acclaim, far fewer players tend to purchase them compared to those who buy the base game… or spend money in GTA Online.
At this point, it seems quite challenging to envision that GTA 6 will feature expansions. Of course, it’s still too early to say anything definitively; Rockstar may choose to expand the universe of their new installment with expansions, as they did with GTA IV. In the meantime, fans eagerly await any morsel of information regarding the most anticipated game in the world…
