GTA 6 : an American criminal rides the buzz
For many years, fans of Grand Theft Auto know how much the video game saga is renowned for its numerous references to real facts or characters. If the sixth opus of this emblematic franchise should obviously be no exception to the rule, an American criminal, named Lawrence Sullivan, has already convinced himself that his face served as an inspiration to the Rockstar Games teams.
Nicknamed the “ Florida Joker “, due to his striking resemblance to the famous eponymous character from the Batman universe (green hair, tattooed face), Lawrence Sullivan became famous in 2017, when he was arrested for drug possession and concealed carrying of firearm.
Some time after the publication of the first trailer of GTA 6, the thirty-year-old posted a first video on his TikTok account, which has already reached more than a million views. Here is what he declares, as reported to us by our colleagues from Figaro :
“ You know they created a character with facial tattoos. Do you know who they were inspired by? Of me ! “. He then concluded by addressing Rockstar Games directly: “ GTA, we need to talk “.
Lawrence Sullivan demands $2 million from Rockstar Games for using his image
Obviously convinced of having inspired the character present in the trailer for GTA 6the criminal is now demanding the sum of 2 million dollars from Rockstar Games for having used his appearance without his authorization. “You took my image, you took my life “, he said in one of his many videos shared on TikTok.
On social networks, a certain Roger Clark, who is none other than the actor behind the character of Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2, spoke out about Lawrence Sullivan’s claim. He then openly declared that he had absolutely no chance of getting any money from Rockstar, and that many people before him had already tried.
Remember, on the occasion of the release of GTA V In 2013, Lindsey Lohan filed a complaint against Rockstar Games for her resemblance to the character Lacey Jonas. Unfortunately for her, the actress lost her case in 2016, the New York Court of Appeal then considering that the publisher had not used her image.
