GTA 6 is one of the most anticipated games of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S generation. A titanic project that attracts all eyes, and which could visibly change everything.
Rockstar Games has thrown itself headlong into the development of GTA 6, and unless there is a change in the schedule, the release will take place in 2025 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The PC will be deprived of the game at first, but a port will certainly see the light of day some time later. To give an idea, it took less than a year for Red Dead Redemption 2 to arrive on this PC. GTA 6 expected like the messiah
The stakes surrounding GTA 6 are absolutely gigantic and Rockstar Games knows it. To prevent new leaks, R* forced employees to almost abandon teleworking and spend five days a week on the premises. A very unpopular decision among developers who cited broken promises. And who are afraid of a return to a toxic work culture. A choice which was even denounced by certain employees of other studios. But for Mat Piscatella, analyst for Circana, GTA 6 has unsuspected power. According to him, it will be the biggest release the video game industry has ever known. A launch which could be greatly beneficial to the sector after a year 2023 sadly rocked by thousands of layoffs. And for the moment, the start of 2024 has unfortunately not been much better.
2024 will be a difficult year. But if you look towards 2025, if interest rates drop and money flows a little freely for developers and publishers, then the development cycle should be revitalized. The industry will benefit from a renewed interest with GTA 6 in particular. There has probably never been a release this big in the industry.
