(Boursier.com) — GTT was chosen in April 2022 by its partner, the Korean shipyard Hyundai Heavy Industries, to design the cryogenic tanks for six container ships powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).
These six new vessels, capable of carrying 7,900 containers each, will be equipped with an LNG tank, used as fuel, with a capacity of 6,000 m3. These tanks will incorporate the Mark III Flex membrane containment system developed by GTT.

LNG is today the best marine fuel for preserving air quality, a major public health issue. It reduces sulfur oxide emissions by 99%, fine particles by 91% and nitrogen oxide emissions by 92%. It also reduces CO2 by up to 20% compared to a conventional ship.
The delivery of the vessels is scheduled between the fourth quarter of 2024 and the second quarter of 2025.
