Guardians of the Galaxy 3: what does the second post-credits scene announce?

Even if the road ends for our favorite Guardians of the Galaxy, the last installment of the franchise still has two post-credits scenes in store for us. Small focus on the second.

Warning, this article is obviously full of spoilers…

As we know, Guardians of the Galaxy 3 marks the end of the team made up of Star Lord, Gamora, Drax, Mantis, Rocket Racoon, Groot and Nebula. James Gunn is going to DC, he delivered for Marvel fans an epic and moving final episode that closes a chapter and opens a new one.

We explained to you in this article that the first post-credits scene of Guardians 3 introduced us to the brand new team, led this time by Kraglin (Sean Gunn). Exit Gamora – gone to join the Ravagers – Mantis who wants to go around the world or even Peter, who has decided to find the last living member of his family.

In the second post-credits scene, we find Star Lord (Chris Pratt) with his grandfather (Gregg Henry). A scene from everyday life, where we hear Peter complaining about having to mow the neighbour’s lawn. Nothing crazy then, but it shows that our hero has reintegrated well into earthly life.

But you have to look at the diary kept by his grandfather to see the only easter eggs from the scene. This is an interview with Kevin Bacon who talks about being kidnapped by aliens. A little nod to the events that unfolded in the Guardians of the Galaxy: Happy Holidays Christmas movie, which Disney+ released last winter.

In this (very cool) 40-minute TV movie, Drax and Mantis go to Earth to kidnap Kevin Bacon (the God of dance according to Peter) and offer him to their leader, who is not recovering from the disappearance of (his) Gamora. If the actor of Footloose ends up having a good time at the end, he was not at all happy to see his house destroyed by two strange creatures…

Star Lord back?

If this second post-generic scene was disappointing, Marvel reserved a little surprise for fans at the end by announcing – via a cardboard box – the return of Star Lord. A half-surprising announcement when you know that Chris Pratt is not closed to the idea of resuming the role if ever the treatment of his character was faithful to the vision of James Gunn.

If Marvel has the idea of launching a new Guardians of the Galaxy franchise with a different team, we can imagine Peter spending a little time there. But the most likely theory is that the superhero will make an appearance in Avengers 5 The Kang Dynasty expected in 2025.
