Family comes first for Star-Lord, also known as Peter Quill, from Guardians of the Galaxy. But he had to find them first. After his biological mother, Meredith Quill, died of cancer, he was kidnapped by Yondu and the Ravagers as a young boy, finding in them an important surrogate family.
He later finds a new, small family in his own squad, the Guardians of the Galaxy. Also joining in Part 2 of the series is Mantis, who works for Peter’s birth father, Ego. But in the Christmas special of “Guardians of the Galaxy”, which was released on Disney + in November 2022, what many have already suspected is revealed. Mantis and Peter are half-siblings!
Ego’s grand plan was to terraform and dominate many different planets. However, his powers were not sufficient, so he fathered numerous children with different alien species, hoping that they would inherit his powers and help him in his plan.
This is how Mantis was born. She doesn’t have her father’s powers, but as a powerful empath she was allowed to live on to serve Ego. In The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, Mantis reveals to Peter that they are brother and sister. That’s why all the characters in the latest Marvel film “The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” already know that the two are related.
The film has just been released in German cinemas, but “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” should be launched on Disney+ soon.
