Moulinex is inspired by Cookeo to help budding pastry chefs with its new pastry robot I-Coach Touch. According to the manufacturer, many owners of pastry robots would quickly find themselves helpless in the face of their machine, to the point of no longer using it, or very little. The idea is therefore to take them by the hand by showing them not only the different possibilities offered by a pastry robot, but also by accompanying them throughout the recipes.

115 recipes with step-by-step guidance

To do this, the I-Coach Touch is first equipped with a 4.3-inch touch screen and able to display recipes. 115 are integrated into the robot and Moulinex promises that others will be added, counting on both its teams and its community – a wifi connection is provided for downloading them.

In order to facilitate the discovery of these recipes, the robot offers a library and several search modes by keywords or ingredients, while notebooks allow you to save them to return to them more quickly. Each of the recipes is divided into steps to facilitate the realization and the settings are selected automatically. In addition, photos make it possible to check the preparations during the journey. If the result in the bowl differs from that on the screen, it is possible to indicate it to obtain advice in order to correct the shot.

In addition, the I-Coach Touch offers a few videos to learn basic techniques and comes with a connected scale, but not integrated. A bit of a shame, especially since Moulinex is preparing to launch a Pro version of the Cookeo Touch with, precisely, an integrated scale, like last year with the Companion. The question arose for the pastry robot, but the tariff surplus in development was deemed too high for this first generation. We will therefore have to wait for the second.

A brand new 1200 W motor

Moulinex did not just integrate a screen on one of its existing robots. The representatives of the brand explained to us that the engineers had started from scratch to create a whole new platform in order to gain in performance. The I-Coach Touch should therefore do better than the MasterChef Gourmet, but also than most competing models. We just want to believe it, but we will rather trust the results of our tests when it passes through our lab.

This platform is built around a brand new 1200 W belt-driven motor. More than enough power according to Moulinex, which prefers to get out of the race for watts that some manufacturers are still indulging in, without it really benefiting the user. ‘user. These 1200 W, moreover, should only be fully exploited with the blender to be installed on one of the two upper motor outputs.

Instead, the manufacturer preferred to focus on other criteria, such as noise and durability, which would be the main reasons behind choosing a belt-driven motor rather than a direct drive. It is also amusing to remember that KitchenAid, a great defender of direct-drive engines, takes the opposite view. We will therefore let our tests decide between them…

Tailor-made accessories

The engine of the I-Coach Touch is associated with an 8-speed gearbox, to which are added Pulse and Incorporation modes. To maximize performance, Moulinex has also developed a new pastry kit that is supposed to perfectly fit its 5.5l bowl. The sheet would thus not need a flexible edge to mix the preparations without leaving any on the edges. The shape of the hook would have been studied to cut the dough when it rises. These two accessories are made of cast aluminum to combine lightness and durability, but there is a plastic sleeve on the whisk. The latter inherits the Flex Whisk technology from the MasterChef robots.

This pastry kit is obviously delivered with the robot, as is the anti-splash cover, while other accessories can be purchased separately. Separately, but as a pack! Moulinex preferred to group its accessories by use. There is thus a Mix and Drink Box with the blender mentioned earlier, but also mini-choppers for €100, a Fresh Box with a multifunction bowl, blades and a citrus press for €160, as well as a Meat & Pasta Box with a meat grinder with attachments for sausages and pasta, for €170. Dedicated recipes can be unlocked and the robot automatically selects the most suitable speed for everyone.

The Moulinex I-Coach Touch is offered at the recommended retail price of €800, a high amount after all.

It should also be noted that a more affordable model is also marketed, the “just short” Coach. This variant sold at the recommended retail price of €600 ignores the screen, but offers eight automatic programs, while the mobile app provides access to recipes.
