When spring arrives, we naturally want to let it into our homes. Fashion designer Guido Maria Kretschmer tells us how best to do this.

Spring is finally coming, the world on our doorstep is waking up from its hibernation, it is blooming and green wherever the eye can see. So it’s only understandable that, in addition to spring cleaning, we also want to bring a little spring color into our own four walls.

The cozy winter decorations have really had their day after the many cold months. But which colors actually bring spring back into our homes? We asked fashion designer Guido Maria Kretschmer and received exciting answers.

“Spring has many color variations that suit many people and things”

The designer doesn’t have to think long about which colors mean “spring”: “Of course there are all the yellow tones that are just totally spring, and everything that reminds of blossom colors, for example the complete pink palette or orange are the perfect spring colours .” Of course, shades of green shouldn’t be missing either, adds Guido, “especially the delicate ones, they’re quite rightly popular with so many people.”

If you combine that with yellow tones, the spring feeling is perfect, says Guido. It just reminds me of beautiful daffodils. And speaking of flowers: “A bouquet of tulips in the right color brings spring into your home – and it’s great that spring comes in so many different colors that, amazingly, suit so many people and things.”

“You can build your own spring”

While we preferred to hide under our (warm) blankets during the cold months, it is now time to say goodbye to the many blankets, pillows and other “winter things”. “The winter decorations go in the box, and in return we surround ourselves with living, growing things again.”

But don’t worry: Of course we don’t have to say goodbye to our beautiful pillows completely, cosiness is just as much a part of spring. “Maybe a new, colored cover will suffice. That’s also good for the sofa or new curtains in the right shades,” are a few tips from Guido for a fresh spring breeze in your own home. “You can already build your spring in your own four walls,” says the designer – with his tips it’s child’s play.
