How to style the zebra trend on your everyday safari in 2023

The zebra trend is coming back in 2023 – and Guido Maria Kretschmer has revealed the most important no-gos and styling tips to us.
New year, new trend? In 2023, we are greeted more by an old relative from the Animal-Print family. It’s the little sister of the Leo look – and it definitely deserves to be carried out of the safari into the urban jungle this year. We’re wearing zebra prints now!
The vintage trend is coming back with a slightly different look, according to Guido Maria Kretschmer it is the “zebra pattern interpreted in a modern way, not the classic one”. In other words: it’s welcome to be wavy, colorful and wild!
The zebra trend can not only impress in black and white, but is also coming around the corner this year in bright combinations of neon and black. So that your eyes don’t flicker (which, by the way, is just as desirable as camouflage for zebras in nature), Guido has a few styling tricks ready for your everyday safari.

As we know from Guido, he doesn’t beat around the bush: “It’s definitely a pattern that creates size,” he says, which can also mean: “In poor lighting when you’re sitting in the office and you’re wearing a blouse like that, it can go wrong – you’re not in the Serengeti!”
And how do you avoid standing there like the zebra in a china shop, Guido? “I think it’s better at the top than at the bottom, if I’m honest,” he advises, “it’s a large-scale pattern, the back and upper body offer a better stage, it can create a bit of unrest on the legs.” We get it: pants with a zebra look can be a bit bulky. The pattern attracts everyone’s attention, which you can use for yourself – and emphasize the places you like best.
Guido Maria Kretschmer recommends approaching the trend in small pieces first: “It’s always easier to use zebra as an effect than all-over. I think that’s the secret. The zebra can look completely different when it’s for example only comes along as a small cardigan.”
And what about the colors? Finally, Guido encourages people to take the zebra pattern out of their usual environment and experiment with new tones: “I think it looks best in light tones,” says the designer. Delicate cream and beige tones look elegant and blend naturally into everyday wardrobe.
