Guido Maria Kretschmer knows: style is the most important ingredient in a good outfit. But how do you find your own look? Very easy – with Guido’s lifelong style formula.

Trends come and go. What remains is your own style. As simple as this fashion saying sounds, it is difficult to implement. Style – what does that mean? How do you recognize a good one? And isn’t one’s own so individual that it can’t be judged badly from the outside?

Guido Maria Kretschmer asks himself these questions not only in his function as a designer, but also as a shopping queen jury member. After all, fashion affects everyone differently – and an outfit is only brought to life by how you wear it. So there is not one piece of clothing that suits everyone, the one style that everyone wants to achieve.

Rather, the art lies in picking out what suits us from all the trends that pass us by – and creating our very own look from it. Then fashion can do much more than look good, it can be a means of expressing our personality and showing us to the world as we are. Guido Maria Kretschmer advises:

“I think fashion is a vehicle. By trying it out. And at some point you know what belongs to you. That will never change and should stay that way.”

In the discovery phase – and that lasts a lifetime, after all there are always new trends – you can also go wrong and test, test, test again and again. That takes a little courage. And not to try out bright colors and cuts, but above all to listen to your own voice. She whispers to you exactly what you feel comfortable in – and what you prefer not to.

In order to awaken this voice to its own, lifelong style, Guido has a rule ready:

“I would ask myself: What are my ten most important things? What are the things that I really love, that look good on me, that I feel comfortable in? That’s your basis!”

So: stand in front of your closet and try out which items of clothing are really “you”. Once you have found your personal top ten, you can see them as companions in all phases of life. They form the framework in which we feel comfortable and have the courage to try something new. This can be the black turtleneck sweater or the floral blouse, which always makes you feel good.
