Guillaume Canet will be an equestrian commentator for the Paris Olympic Games. The actor and director is indeed a true enthusiast and has practiced horse riding for many years. But with filming underway, Louise and Marcel’s father will unfortunately not be available for the entire duration of the events.

New cap for Guillaume Canet! The actor and director will commentate on the equestrian eventing and jumping finals at the Olympics. This new system set up by France Télévisions will receive several commentators, including Florent Manaudou for swimming. And if he was chosen it is no coincidence: Marion Cotillard’s husband competed in equestrian competition throughout his youth and even thought about making it his profession, until he was forced to stop after an injury.

“I want to make this sport popular”

In 2013, Guillaume Canet already returned to this demanding discipline in the film Jappeloup, where he played the leading role. According to Jean-Baptiste Marteau, journalist at France TV, the director’s presence is a good thing: “He’s a real enthusiast, I think he will be very good. It’s this touch that speaks to everyone. I want speak to the general public and make this sport popular” he declared to Tele-Leisure. Guillaume Canet will not, however, be available every day: “He cannot be there every day because he is filming a film at the same time” explained the morning worker.

The Paris Olympic Games will begin on July 27 and end on August 11. For the opening ceremony on July 26, Laurent Delahousse, Daphné Bürki and Alexandre Boyon will comment on the event which will mark the start of the long-awaited Paris Olympics.
