Without Jean Rochefort, Guillaume Canet would not be the same actor. In October 2021, the director returned to his relationship with the actor, who did not hesitate to give him funny advice.
This Sunday, April 3, viewers will find Guillaume Canet in the film My boy, broadcast on W9 from 9:05 p.m. If the French know him as an actor, the husband of Marion Cotillard is also a famous director. In addition to the world of cinema, the actor is passionate about horses, as he mentioned in October 2021, in the show Boomerang on France Inter. A passion that he shared with Jean Rochefort. Since their meeting, the latter has never let go of Guillaume Canet. Very close to each other, the two actors liked to discuss their passion, but the director also followed all the advice given by the actor to the letter. An elephant cheats a lot.
Even if sometimes, Jean Rochefort gave him funny mantras : “The phrase he kept repeating to me: ‘Don’t buy the barbecue!’ That sums it all up. He said to me, ‘If you buy the barbecue, that means you buy the country house, if you buy the country house, that means you have to pay the drafts and that means you start making movies for the wrong reasons…'”, had unveiled Guillaume Canet. But did Marion Cotillard’s husband finally buy the famous barbecue? “So I bought it… But I tell myself that I can resell it overnight and that I don’t care. I have lost all material attachment”, finally confided the actor.
Jean Rochefort: “You have a mouth to make movies”
And the least we can say is that his meeting with Jean Rochefort profoundly transformed the life of Guillaume Canet : “I was at the family stud and (…) Jean Rochefort called home because one of his fillies had just been born. My parents were not there and so I introduced her to him. He told me said: ‘You have a face for making films’. I replied that I was starting, I had done a few TV films, theater, and he told me about a film he was preparing”. The rest of the story, we know it.
