In his youth, Guillaume Canet destined for a career as a rider. But everything changed when he was 18 and had a serious accident.
The life and career of Guillaume Canet could well have been totally different. As a child, the comedian dreamed of becoming a professional rider. Son of horse breeders in the Yvelines, he explained to Marie Claire to have “grew up in stables”. Today passionate about horses, Guillaume Canet has not always had the same opinion. “Little, I didn’t like it! I followed my two big sisters who were climbing, nothing more. One day when I was 12, I saw them jumping, confided the husband of Marion Cotillard in the columns of Parisianin 2018. That interested me. Two weeks later I won the stables training competition.” At the time, Guillaume Canet dreamed of becoming a professional rider. But life and fate decided otherwise.
“I had a serious accident: at 18, I broke half of my body”told the actor, who is then “fallen into a form of disillusionment and total questioning”. It was then that he “started to think about something other than horses”. After his accident, it would have taken him nearly twenty years to get back on a horse during the filming of the film. And since then, he has regained a taste for horse riding and competitions, in which he participates when his schedule allows him. “When I can, that is to say two or three times a week in addition to competitions on weekends. But for 6 months, I have practically not climbed, except in competitionsadded Guillaume Canet to the Parisian. I’m lucky it’s going well, but since I don’t want to break, I have to train again.”
Guillaume Canet: “The horse got me out of cam”
If he is still so passionate about horse riding, it is because this sport has been a lifesaver for him. “Before, I was really rock’n’roll, willingly admitted Guillaume Canet into the columns of Elle. Sometimes I only slept four hours a night. I smoked a lot of firecrackers.” He admitted it himself: “Returning to high-level competition helped me a lot. You could say that the horse got me off the hook!” When he has “lost [son] desire for cinemaGuillaume Canet has therefore decided to resume his passion of yesteryear. “I took back my professional riding license and started international competitions again across Europe, he continued. I was living in my truck, and that made me feel good.”
