Gundam Evolution: Bandai Namco announces the closure of the free-to-play FPS servers

It was only last September that bandai namco launched on PC Gundam Evolution, before its release a few months later on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. As a reminder, this is a FPS free-to-play proposing confrontations in arena way hero shooters at the controls of famous units of the license. The seasons have been linked since, but we have to believe that the public is not at the rendezvous or that the microtransactions do not bring in enough, because the publisher has just announced the closure of the servers for the end of 2023

Gundam Evolution will therefore close its doors on November 30, with two more seasons of content before that adding some new features. Here is what the long article of the official site :

Thank you all for playing Gundam Evolution. I’m Kazuya Maruyama, the executive producer of Gundam Evolution. It is with great sadness that we announce the conclusion of Gundam Evolution.

Game service will end on November 30, 2023 (CET).

Our desire was to create a game that brought together fans of first-person shooters and those of Gundam. We put our hearts into crafting a Gundam shooter that would touch gamers all over the world. Unfortunately, we found that we could not continue to provide a service able to satisfy our players. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who enjoyed playing our game and supported us along this journey. We apologize to our fans and players for this sad news.

Even though Gundam Evolution is about to close its doors, updates will continue with Season 6 (along with the addition of a new unit and two new maps) on August 24 (CEST) and the final season (along with the addition of a new unit and a new map) on October 26 (CEST). We will do everything possible to ensure that players can continue to enjoy the game until the very end.

Below is the main schedule until the end of service, along with in-game changes and an FAQ. Additionally, we’ll tell you more about the details during the Final Mission Briefing, which is scheduled to air on July 22 at 8:00 AM CEST. We hope you will join us on this occasion.

Although the end of service for Gundam Evolution is not far away, our development and administration teams will continue to work hard to ensure that players can continue to enjoy the game.

Program until end of service

The full roadmap to the end of service for Gundam Evolution will be featured in the Final Mission Briefing, scheduled to air July 22 at 8:00 AM CEST.

Thursday, July 27, 2023, 3:00 a.m. CEST

  • End of new purchases of EVO parts
  • End of sale of limited PE capsules
  • End of the update of PE capsules, CAP capsules and ticket capsules.
    • The start of campaigns and events may differ from the date of the season update.

The purchase and sale of EVO parts will be closed on this date. You may continue to use EVO parts you already own after new purchases close and until service ends. Additionally, please note that we do not plan to allow refunds or returns of previously purchased EVO parts, paid items or services.

After the end of the EVO Coin sale, we will create more opportunities to earn Capital Points through login bonuses, events and campaigns, to allow players to unlock and experience new units. Also, we will no longer add new items that can only be purchased with EVO Coins (only those that are already available will remain in the store).

Season 6 Update Thursday, August 24, 2023 CEST

  • Plan for adding a new unit and two new maps
    • We will increase the amount of Capital Points earned in-game. Players will be able to get enough Capital Points to unlock the new units without needing to purchase EVO Parts.
    • The start of campaigns and events may differ from the date of the season update.

Season 7 Update Thursday, October 26, 2023 CEST

  • Plan for adding a new unit and a new map
    • We will increase the amount of Capital Points earned in-game. Players will be able to get enough Capital Points to unlock the new units without needing to purchase EVO Parts.
    • However, as the service is nearing its end, it will no longer be possible to win special titles during Season 7.
    • The start of campaigns and events may differ from the date of the season update.

End of service on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 2:00 a.m. CET

After the end of the service, it will no longer be possible to play the game and the items will no longer be usable, including EVO coins.
