This Friday, December 15, the actor and singer Guy Marchand has took his last breath, at the age of 86. He went away “peacefully”, as his two children, Jules and Ludivine, announced with emotion to AFP. However, the former star of the TV series Nestor Burma could have left this world sooner than expected. On February 26, 2022, the actor was on the set of our Swiss colleagues from Léman Bleu TV.
He gratefully recounted that his son Jules, present at his side, had saved his life by providing support during a difficult time in his life. While he was suffering from “very serious” nosocomial infection, generally contracted during a hospital stay, Guy Marchand declared: “I almost died and he pulled me out. I don’t know how he did it. The infection almost took me and he said, ‘It’s too early,’ he didn’t didn’t let it happen.” Comments confirmed by Ludivine’s brother, who believed that his father “still had time” before him and that his time had not arrived. With amusement and humor, the actor nevertheless qualified his son’s opinion by assuring that at the age of 80, he was not “not chicken of the year”.

An actor who already considered himself almost “dead”
Asked about his relationship with the passing of time, Guy Marchand explained that he “think[ait] to death”, without being however “obsessed” by she, by adding, in all frankness: “I find her annoying. But if she wasn’t here, everything wouldn’t have the same value.” To his eyes, immortality would be the best way to “gets bored[er]”. When the Swiss television journalist reminded him that he had had the opportunity to respond to legends of the seventh art, who were no longer in this world, he indicated “become more and more abstract” in people’s heads and “it begins[ait] has [lui] to please”. “I’m out of the picture. I’m already in the stardust. I’m already dead,” he developed with a certain philosophy, alluding to his former roles, engraved in stone.
